start your day

Some days are harder than others to start…especially if your office or school is requiring you to attend in person again. It can be overwhelming to say the least. So instead of hitting the snooze button four times, let’s get out of bed and try one of these unique ways to start your day!

Open Your Blinds or Curtains and Dance

Letting in natural light is a great way to feel good from the rays of the sun beaming into your room. Turn on your favorite feel-good song or playlist and dance! Sing along, be goofy, and let yourself go. Very Well Mind reported: “Another study found that intentionally trying to boost moods by listening to positive music could have an impact within two weeks. Participants were instructed to purposefully attempt to improve their mood by listening to positive music each day for two weeks.” There are so many amazing benefits to listening to positive, upbeat music that brings you joy!

Write Down 3 Things You Are Grateful For

This is something that I did for 30 days straight and it improved my mood astronomically. I chose a simple journal and a black pen and I would sit down first thing in the morning with my breakfast and write down three things I was grateful for. Whether it was a phone call from my friend last night, my iced coffee, or my daughter getting more than 3 hours of sleep in a row—I made sure to find 3 things. It makes you appreciate the little things in life. Sometimes it’s not always about the big picture, it’s about getting through the day and relaxing that we do have a lot. This is still one of my favorite things to do and it truly takes me out of my brain fog. I don’t suggest using your phone so you can stay in the moment and truly reflect.

Do Someone A Favor

Do you know someone that needs an extra boost in their morning? Maybe your coworker always forgets their lunch—pack an extra snack for them! Buy someone’s coffee in the line behind you. Donate pantry items to your local food bank. Buy flowers for someone. Walk a dog from a shelter. Something! Do something that makes you and someone else radiate positivity and start your day off right.

Practice Your Hobby

Usually we like to wait until after the work or school day is over, but you do not have to wait! Wake up an extra 20 minutes earlier to practice your favorite hobby. Or take the time to learn a new one. You can check out a previous article about indoor hobbies to try, here

What Will You Try?

Getting up is the hardest part of the day, but it does not have to be! Give yourself something to look forward to every day. Even if it’s the smallest thing to add into your routine. You have the power to change the way your day goes by starting off with a positive mindset. What activity will you try? Is there anything that you can recommend to us?
