Setting Time Aside For Wellness in 2022

making time for wellness

When you think back on last year, did you consciously set aside time for your wellness? Did you exercise? Did you eat well? Did you talk about how you felt on a regular basis? If you find yourself answering “no” to one or more of these questions—make this year about your wellness. This can seem like an impossible task if you manage a company or stay at home with your children while working a full-time job. However, your wellness matters and is important to maintain in order to live a healthy and sustainable life. What can you do to make this year different?

Start a Routine

You’ve probably heard this a million times. However, if you followed through with it, you wouldn’t have to hear it again. (Not trying to roast you, but…it is grilling season!) You need to build a stable routine that incorporates the three kinds of wellness: physical, emotional, and mental. Be productive the most you can and look up helpful starter routines to incorporate into your life.  Using the BetterYou app is also a great way to ensure you are staying on top of your wellness and will even send you personalized notifications.

Find a Wellness Activity You Love

Maybe it’s time to buy that bike you’ve been wanting to get for months now or you want to start meal prepping. 2022 is your year to shine! Take 30 minutes each day to do this activity. If you don’t like doing the same thing every day you can switch back and forth between two activities.

Clean Your Space

Did you know that by not having a clean space it can affect your mental health? VeryWellMind says: “”Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin,” found that women who described their living spaces as cluttered or full of unfinished projects were more likely to be fatigued and depressed than women who described their homes as restful and restorative. Researchers also found that the women with messy or cluttered homes had higher levels of cortisol.” You have to have a clear space to have a clear mind. Without this, you won’t be able to complete other tasks without stress and frustration. It’s not only going to hinder your mental health, but delay kickstarting other wellness activities.

Do What’s Best For You

2022 is a time for growth. Recognize the fact that if you don’t take care of yourself first, it’s harder to take care of people later. Mental health is so difficult to cope with in today’s world. It’s harder to take days off now because of the rising cost of food and gas alone. However, realize that one hour of your day dedicated to wellness can improve your overall health.
