how to be more mindful

Before you read, take a moment. Inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth and repeat three times.

How do you feel? It can be hard to find the time to just slow down. But it’s important. Positive Psychology says that there are many reasons why mindfulness is good for us. Some of those reasons are: decreased stress, lower heart rate, lowered anxiety levels, and many more reasons! How can we be more mindful? Let’s take a look!

Breathe In Between Daily Tasks

One of the most simple ways to incorporate mindfulness into your life is by scheduling a small break. Before going into work, take the time to breathe. Take ten deep breaths in your car or as you are walking into the office to slow yourself down.

Pause Before You Respond

Not only is it important to be mindful about yourself—your reactions to others are just as important. Even if you take a few seconds to react to something someone says, it can make a world of a difference. You give yourself a chance to respond calmly and mindfully to any situation. If your coworker is criticizing you, take a minute to think of a response. Instead of scolding, say: “I appreciate your feedback but I’m doing the best I can.”

Take Time For You In The Morning

Whether you’re a mother, father, student, or a full-time worker, we can forget to take care of ourselves. We might get carried away in mindlessly scrolling through TikTok as soon as we wake up and rush the rest of the morning. Instead of instinctively reaching for your phone, grab a book or journal or turn on some music and just relax for 5 minutes. Take five minutes in the morning to take time for you.

Be Creative

Set challenges, join a group on social media, or change your routine—put in the work to be more mindful and you will see a big difference in your life. Mindfulnesses will make your life healthier, increase positivity, and make you a BetterYou!
