Whether you’re commuting to your school or work, the commute can be a dreadful time in some cases. You could be waiting in line at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts or stuck behind a school bus for twenty minutes—how can you utilize your time? Statista, a global business data platform, said: “During the latest annual survey in 2021, it was found that 57 percent of US consumers listened to audio podcasts, up from 55 percent in the previous year. Podcasts have grown increasingly popular, with the percentage of U.S. consumers saying that they had ever listened to a podcast more than doubling over the last decade. So let’s start with some unique podcasts to give a try!

Up and Vanished by Tenderfoot TV—Apple Podcasts

If you’re a true crime junkie, then this podcast is for you! This podcast is broken up into 3 seasons, just like a TV show you’d watch on True Crime Network. However, you don’t need to sit in front of a screen to be engrossed in the stories. Starting out with season one, they tell the story about the disappearance of a high school teacher from Georgia. Every episode ranges from 30 minutes to an hour.

Not Past It by Gimlet—Spotify Podcasts

This is all about history and culture! The topics of this podcast range from anywhere about the Illuminati to Kellog cereal and its impact on the world today! These podcasts range from 20-35 minutes each. This is perfect if you want to learn about unique history and culture backgrounds if you aren’t sure of where to start.

A Hot Dog Is a Sandwich by Mythical & Rambal—Google Podcasts

Personally, this is one of my favorites. If you want a super light, funny, but informative podcast all about food and beverages then this is for you! Their topics include: “What’s The Best Hot Sauce,” “Can You Tell the Difference between Coke and Pepsi?” And so much more. The episodes are between 40 and 50 minutes and this is a super enjoyable podcast.

Life Kit by NPR—Google Podcasts

On a more serious note, Life Kit is a podcast there for us when we need some extra help. Topics range from “Letter Writing 101” to “How to Talk About Divorce to Your Children.” This is a shorter podcast channel that ranges anywhere from 10-30 minutes.

Maintenance Phase—Castro Podcast Player

Do you like learning about health and wellness? This podcast covers faulty health trends, scams, and TV influencers in the health industry. This is the longest podcast channel of the five but they cover a ton of information.
