Living with Intent in 2023

Living with Intent

It’s officially 2023, and with the New Year, we all have the chance to work on becoming a better version of ourselves.

Whether you’d like to eat healthier this year, get to the gym more, pick up a book 4 times a week rather than 3, or simply slow down and focus on being more present, my challenge for you this year is that you live more intentionally.

Definition of Intentionality

Now, I can’t really begin this blog without properly discussing what “intentionality” actually is, so without further ado, intentionality is the quality of being done on purpose, with commitment to deliberate action

Often, I catch myself doing things and I don’t even understand why. For example, I can easily scroll mindlessly on TikTok for 2 hours and not even question why I just spent 2 hours of my day doing that. It’s disappointing, frustrating, and even surprising as to how much of my day I can spend on things and not once ask myself the intent behind it. And I know I’m not alone in this.

My goal for all of us in 2023 is to live with more intent. Ask yourself what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. In what way is what you’re choosing to do with your 24-hour day benefiting you and others around you? How are your actions helping yourself and our society as a whole?

Ideas for Living with Intent

To give you inspiration as to how to live with intent this year, I’ve listed a couple ideas below.

1. Make Others Feel Special, Important, and Loved

I read a quote once that said, “The best thing you can do as a human is make others feel special.”. I really see this to be true, and hope others will as well. Making others feel special, important, and loved will not only benefit them, but will also benefit you, as serving others is, ironically, self-serving as well.

Ask someone how their day has been, tell a friend they look beautiful, do a favor for your mom, call your brother and see what he’s been up to. There are endless ways to make others feel special, important, and loved, and I think 2023 is the year to begin doing so with great intent!

2. Set Goals for Yourself and Follow Through on Them

Like I said before, I know some people want to eat healthier this year, and others want to make it to the gym more often. Set goals for yourself and act on them with intent. Instead of picking up your phone to scroll through Instagram, push yourself to put on a cute gym outfit and start driving to your gym – without stopping to look at your phone in between all of this! Set goals with purpose, and continue to remind yourself about these goals and your commitment to completing them, even when you may just want to be a couch potato.

Intention in 2023

I could go on and on with this list, but the point is, I really challenge you to be more intentional this year – with your time, your energy, your actions, and your words. It will not only benefit yourself, but it will also benefit those around you, serving to make the world a better place.

So here’s to 2023! Let’s make it great and strive to live with intent each and every day.
