What is BetterYou?

  • BetterYou is a digital coach that helps you form healthier habits around physical, social, and mental wellbeing. You can create goals for yourself and BetterYou will help you stay on track, update your progress, and give you tips along the way. 

Is my information safe?

  • Your information is safe and completely confidential. User data is stored on secure servers in compliance with stringent GDPR guidelines and is never shared/sold/distributed to outside parties.

What devices are compatible with BetterYou?

  • The BetterYou app is compatible with iOS and Android phones. For fitness tracking, you can connect to Fibit, Apple Health or Google Fit.

 

Android

What permissions do I need to enable?

Permissions depend on the types of goals you want to set.

  • Location Permission – get credit for going to places you set that count towards your goals (gym, library, restaurant, etc.)
  • Google Fit – allows BetterYou to give you credit for your daily steps and counts them towards your fitness goal
  • Battery Optimization – allows BetterYou to update your scores accurately and continuously without draining your battery
  • Contacts – allows BetterYou to help you stay in touch with your favorite people

 

I don’t think my stats are updating – what should I do?

  • Did you just hit the gym, listen to Audible, or do something else to reach your goals? Give the app about 30 minutes to update. Sometimes it just needs a few minutes to catch up!
  • The first thing to do is to try closing the app and re-opening. To completely close the app, swipe out of it.  
  • Another thing you can do is to make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi or using Cellular Data.
  • It is also good to check if the app is up to date. You can do this by checking in the Google Play Store for the latest app version.

What permissions do I need to enable?

  • Location Permission – get credit for your sleep, going to places you set that count towards your goals (gym, library, restaurant, etc.). Location Permission is also required to receive relevant nudges.
  • Photo Permission – allows BetterYou to log your weekly Screen Time screenshot and give you credit for the apps you used to make progress towards your goals.
  • Notification Permission – allows BetterYou to keep you on track with your goals, update you of your progress, notify you about rewards, and celebrate your success
  • Apple Healthallows BetterYou to give you credit for your daily steps and counts them towards your fitness goal.
  • Contacts – allows BetterYou to help you stay in touch with your favorite people.

 

I don’t think my stats are updating – what should I do?

  • Make sure you’re taking ‘Last Week’ Screen Time screenshots every week to log your progress.

 

How does BetterYou automatically detect my Screen Time screenshots?

  • When you take a screenshot, BetterYou automatically checks your Photos library for a new “Last Week” Screen Time screenshot. If it isn’t a Screen Time screenshot, BetterYou stops there. 
  • If that new screenshot is a Screen Time screenshot, BetterYou securely uploads it to its servers. Once processed, your phone will receive a push notification letting you know that BetterYou received your app usage data and will begin the process to give you credit. 

 

Using BetterYou

How do I set a goal in BetterYou?

  • To set a goal in the app, navigate to the Goals tab and choose an area that is meaningful to you: Physical, Social, Education, or Mindfulness. From there, set specific targets regarding sleep, steps, meditation, places you want to visit, and more.

How do I track my progress?

  • BetterYou will track your progress in the background automatically, but you can check your progress anytime by selecting a goal area in the Goals tab of the app. There, you will find up-to-date stats on your progress for each wellness category.

How do I earn rewards?

  • The first reward you can earn is called the Onboarding Reward, which is available once you’ve successfully onboarded in the app. The second reward is called the Max Out Reward, which is available when you achieve one of your goals within 1 week. The next reward you can earn is called the Marathoner Reward, which is awarded when you get 126,000 steps (equivalent to running two marathons!). You can also earn rewards through community wellness challenges. Stay tuned for emails and in-app messages to learn about upcoming challenges and additional rewards that are continually being added!

 

Account:

How do I reset my password?

  • If you forgot your password, click “forgot password?” on the login page and enter your email address to get a link to reset your password. 

How can I deactivate my account?

  • If you’d like to deactivate your account, please email your request to: privacy@betteryou.ai. Note that deactivating your account will also delete your data, which is permanent. 

 

Connectivity &  Troubleshooting

Do I need the internet to use BetterYou?

  • BetterYou requires cellular data or an internet connection to work in the background to seamlessly give you credit for what you do every day to enhance your wellness. If you are out and about for most of the day and then have an internet connection at home, your stats will update as soon as you’re connected to Wi-Fi again. You can still update your goals while offline.

 

How do I report an issue with the app? 

If the app crashes or you are experiencing persisting issues, please email help@betteryou.ai with a detailed description of the issue you witnessed. We’re on it!
